Healthy Living Guide - Natural Beauty Articles
Our natural beauty articles cover everything you need to know about the products you’ll find in our hair care, skin care, makeup and body ranges. While we prefer to only stock products that are 100% naturally derived, there are lab derived ingredients that are safe to use in small quantities and there are plenty of natural ingredients that can cause harm. This is why each product and formula is judged on its individual merit. The EWG’s Skin Deep database is just one of several valuable tools that helps us decide what to stock.
We disclose all ingredients and make mention of anything we feel someone looking for natural products should know. The biggest one for us is nail polish. It’s impossible to formulate a nail polish that actually works that’s 100% natural. Brands like Hanami have successfully produced a quality product by removing the 10 worst offenders, a 10-Free polish, and have even formulated a polish remover that doesn’t take your breath away.
As soon as you introduce water into a formula, it’s a breeding ground for bacteria and the products need to be preserved. Natural preservatives are really expensive. Some budget friendly brands will use phenoxyethanol. Unless you have a specific sensitivity to the ingredient, allowing this ingredient gives us budget friendly options for customers who may not be able to afford the luxe products that use the expensive stuff. Our motto is simple, to provide balanced information and products and trust that our customers are capable of deciding what is best for them. We are always here to answer questions if you would like some clarity on anything.
