One of our popular picks in the lunch box aisle for Back To School this year was the Go Green Bento Boxes. They were so popular that we ran out of virtually every lunch bag / lunch box combination about half way through January. There is a full pallet of new stock arriving towards the end of February, so we thought we would give you a run down of the features of this bento lunch box so you can hit the ground running when the new stock arrives.

Leakproof Compartments

A big issue with many lunch boxes on the market is whether they're leakproof or not. One of the biggest issues people have with the stainless steel lunch box choices is the lack of a leakproof lid. If being leakproof is top of the list,  you're going to need to look past virtually all the stainless steel and look at bpa free plastic solutions like this one. While you can put a small leakproof pot in something like the Lunchbots range, it's not going to stop your kid from losing the lid or the whole pot.

As you can see from the photo above, there's a silicone seal around the edge of each of the compartments in the lunch box. When the lid is firmly closed, the seal makes each single compartment leakproof. The lid clicks in to place with the clips you see on the lid at the top of the picture, but for an added security boost, there's a twist closure on top of the lid that goes down in to that hole you see between the four compartments with the food in it. When this is twisted closed, even if all the clips on the lid are undone, you can't physically take the lid off this thing. It is very secure.

Your kids can't lose the lid

Ok, this isn't a guarantee!!! BUT ........ while the lid clips off completely and can be removed from the box completely, it is tethered to the lunch box and can't be lost. Speaking of losing things, even though we don't have them listed on the shop, you can purchase replacement silicone seals and lids for these boxes. Just let us know if you need one and we'll point you in the right direction.

Larger compartments for bigger kids and adults

Once again, we'll go back to the comparison of the stainless steel bento boxes here and the height of the containers themselves. While bento boxes are not designed to hold whole sandwiches and whole pieces of fruit like apples, oranges or bananas, many people do find some stainless steel bentos a little on the tiny side. For larger pieces of food and larger appetites, the compartments on these are 5.5cm deep. In comparison, most other bentos in store are between 4 and 4.5cm high. In the larger version with the 5 compartments, the long compartment on the right is large enough to hold a 236ml water bottle, which comes with the lunch box. You can store it inside the bento as pictured, or you can use it outside and store food in it.

Two different sizes available

In the picture at the top of the page, you'll see two different sizes. On the left is the 5 compartment large version of the Go Green Bento. It can be purchased in either green (pictured) or a bright pink. It can be bought as just the lunch box / bottle combo (pictured) or it's also available with a variety of different insulated lunch bag combos. The large version on the left is literally the ONLY stand a lone lunch box in store that won't slide in to one of our insulated lunch bags. Thankfully, they come snugly wrapped in one custom made for it. The box on the right is exactly the same minus the drink bottle compartment.
