The Hluru 13 Note Lotus Tongue Drum has stunning fresh and bright tone. 12 inches in diameter, it has the potential for great volume and long ringing time when you strike the tongues with your mallet. You can feel the vibration in your body as you play and escape and unwind.
It is tuned to the key of C Major and contains all the notes from G3 to E5. The notes are layed out in a way that it's easy to free play and sound beautiful without needing to learn any specific song. If you choose to learn a song, the 3 lowest notes form a line through the middle (G3, A3, B3) then the rest of the notes are laid out in 3rds, which means if you want to play the whole scale, you simply work from left to right to climb up the scale. We will demonstrate this in a later video.
This drum weighs 2.8kg and is best laid on a flat surface to play. The drum will vibrate and resonate with whatever you put it on. Experimenting with different sounds on different surfaces is fun! To dampen the sound a little, place it on a soft surface like a towel or padded furniture or sit on the ground with it.
WHO DOES THIS DRUM SUIT?
For an adult, this is a great full sized instrument for someone just getting in to using drums for meditation and relaxation. It's large enough and loud enough to physically feel the vibrations when you play which is a big part of the relaxation process. For a child, it's a great way to introduce a musical instrument with no training, but also with the capacity to learn simple songs as you have the whole scale to play with and 13 notes. It helps to train hand / eye co-ordination along with sound. Supervise young children with the mallet.

TONE - Like the 8 note Pentatonic Lotus Drum, this one has a bright and long ringing sound with the capacity for decent volume because of the size. You can get a wide variety of volume and depth of sound and duration of the ringing depending on how hard or soft you hit the tongues with the mallet. To get the best sound, don't 'grip' the mallet tightly, keep it loose in your hand and let it bounce off the tongue naturally as you strike it.
