Organic Baby Shampoo & Body Wash
Our natural and organic baby shampoo formulas are specially designed to keep baby's hair soft without stripping the natural oils from their hair or irritating their scalp. Made using only natural ingredients and to suit delicate skin, bath time becomes a much safer experience when you're not exposing your baby to petroleum based and lab derived ingredients. There are a range of effective natural products in our store to wash your baby's hair and body. We have dedicated baby formulas in both bottle and bar form. Baby soap formulated for hair and body are done so with the delicate scalp and moisture needs in mind. We especially love the Beauty and The Bees products which use jojoba and olive oils.
Speaking of olive oil, pure castile soap in the unscented and lavender formulas are a more budget friendly alternative to specifically formulated baby shampoo products for those on a budget. Our liquid castile soaps are concentrated, so you can dilute them to make the products last longer. When diluting castile soap using pure water, just dilute what you need for the day because the product will need a preservative if you add water and store it long term.
Weleda Calendula Baby Shampoo is a no tears formula
Weleda have been formulating natural products since 1921, and the Weleda Calendula Baby Shampoo & Body Wash is by far the most popular product in our range. This baby shampoo cleanses gently and is boosted with organic calendula flower extract to help maintain the softness of the sensitive skin on all babies. It is scented using natural essential oils that are safe for babies. It's a beautifully fresh smell without leaving a lingering fragrance on your baby for hours afterwards.
When you add products like this to your baby's bath time routine, they can also double as a bubble bath for some fun play time. This product rinses easily after you gently lather it on the head and body. It's suitable for everyday use at baby bath time.

The refill pouches are over 25% better value for money and cut down the number of plastic bottles going into landfill. They are dermatologically tested and have won GOLD awards at the Clean & Conscious Awards in 2021.
Why we sell alternatives to Johnson's Baby Shampoo.
Johnson & Johnson created one amazing marketing campaign around their baby shampoo with the ' no more tears' message. The last time we checked the ingredients list, it is not a sulfate free shampoo, it contains sodium laureth sulfate. Sulfates are used in shampoo to strip away dirt and oil as it cleans. It's a very affordable surfactant and is used a lot in mainstream beauty products. We don't allow it in our store. Sulfates can strip away more moisture than is necessary and this can lead to brittle and dry hair. It may also irritate the scalp.
Going further down the list, it also contains CI 15985 & CI 47005 as a colour. Both of these colours have scores in the RED zone on the EWG Skin Deep Database. They are synthetic dyes made from petroleum and we just don't think it's necessary to expose a baby's delicate hair and delicate scalp to these ingredients just so the liquid is yellow. Parfum is listed as the fragrance and we don't know whether this is natural or lab derived. Labelling laws in some countries force natural brands to use the same word even when essential oils are used for the fragrance.
Coco glucoside is one of the main surfactants in their formula. For those following a palm oil free lifestyle, this vegetable based surfactant can come from multiple origins, mainly coconut or palm oil. From a safety perspective we have no issue with this ingredient. Johnson & Johnson do have press releases talking about achieving 75% RSPO approved palm oil in 2021 and they are taking steps to improve this.
We respect that choosing products for your family is a personal choice, and we understand budget plays a role in many decisions. We always want you to choose the product that best suits your family situation, whether it's from us or not.
