I am the first to admit that I'm not a leading expert on the intricacies of foundation and makeup. When I wear natural makeup, I keep my foundation as light as possible, usually with a quick dusting of mineral powder, as my own nose is usually sensitive to the essential oils used in many brands, including Inika.

Most other brands in store that have a BB Cream only have one shade, like the Andalou Naturals. Others like La Mav or Mukti have 2 shades. Inika have 6 shades that match the same colouring as their liquid foundation. In the past, the whole concept of BB Creams where that they'd blend with virtually any skin tone. From customer reviews, we do know that some are a little hit and miss, so having an offering with a full spectrum of tint is a great choice. Is that the only difference though? Absolutely not.

The coverage

Regardless of the brand, when you're buying a liquid foundation vs a BB Cream, you're going to get a more solid coverage with the liquid foundation, but BB Creams don't always seamlessly blend in when there's only one shade. With the Inika BB Cream, you get that light air-brushed blend with the perfect colour match. The liquid foundation also gives you buildable coverage. If you want a pristine canvas, you can apply more than one coat of the liquid foundation and top with a powder for extra coverage.

BB Cream 3-in-1

The BB Cream is a 3-in-1, replacing your primer, moisturiser and foundation all in one. It is the perfect product for women who are time poor in the morning. If you're going to be out in the sun for extended periods of time, we still recommend you use an SPF coverage. There are products in our natural sunscreen category perfect for this, including the Simple As That sunscreen, the new Anti-aging face sunscreen from Wotnot and the face sunscreen from Eco Sunscreen.

Anti-Aging ingredients in the Liquid Foundation

One of the things that makes the liquid foundation stand out is the inclusion of Hyaluronic Acid in the blend. This too blurs the lines between foundation and moisturiser. The Hyaluronic Acid helps improve skin elasticity, skin hydration and colour coverage. Aloe Vera Leaf Juice and Jojoba Seed Oil also help the Hyaluronic Acid to both hydrate and moisturise the skin.
