Reusable sandwich bags, stainless steel bento boxes, glass food containers and even your favourite Stasher Bag are all great options for reducing the amount of single use plastic you use in your household. For the most part though, a lot of people still struggle with what to use for all of their cling wrap needs.

Beeswax Wraps

Enter beeswax wraps. Made from 100% cotton in a variety of fun and colourful patterns these wraps are made by combining Australian Beeswax with tree resin and organic jojoba oil and then infusing this blend into the cotton to create wraps in a variety of sizes to use to replace cling film.

The inclusion of beeswax makes these wraps naturally antibacterial and perfect for preserving moisture in your food while the tree resin is also antibacterial and jojoba oil provides anti fungal properties.  Each wrap is flexible and will become more so with the warmth of your hands, so can be shaped around a bowl of leftovers with the warmth allowing the wrap to stick back onto itself creating an airtight seal. Beeswax wraps can also be used to wrap a sandwich, veggies, and can even be folded and used to create a pouch to store snacks.

The Vegan Alternative

While beeswax wraps may sound like a perfect solution, they are not suitable for those who are Vegan or who are allergic to pollen or any honey products.  For those of you who are not wanting to use beeswax wraps, we now have our vegan wax wraps by Wrappa back in stock.

The Wrappa vegan wax wraps are made by using candellia and soy wax, which are both plant based options. This is then added to the tree resin and the organic jojoba oil and infused into the 100% cotton pieces to create a very similar option to a beeswax wrap, without using any bee products.  Vegan wax wraps are used in the same way as the Bee Green Wraps beeswax versions but they can be a little less pliable than the beeswax versions due to the candellia wax naturally being much denser than beeswax.  Beeswax wraps can also be repaired and refreshed at home by coating them with an additional layer of beeswax which can not easily be done with the vegan versions.
