Lemon essential oil is one of the most popular essentials oils along with lavender. There’s a lot of information online about putting lemon essential oil in water do drink. We do NOT advise this. It’s too potent, it doesn’t mix with the water, it can damage your throat and it tastes bitter. Lemon essential oil is made from the rind. If you like the flavour, put a slice of lemon in your water or a squeeze of juice.

Lemon is a purifying oil and is great for cleaning and its ability to cut through grease. It’s also great to freshen your laundry, make homemade cleaning products and to get sticky things like gum and glue off surfaces. Patch test first, add drops to a damp cloth and be careful not to spill undiluted oil on your skin. If you do by accident, dilute with any kind of oil before washing it off.

Lemon essential oil can also be phototoxic, which means if you have it on your skin, even diluted, you need to stay out of the sun.
