A decade ago, almost everything in our beauty category would have been packed in plastic tubes. There may have been a small amount of glass and tins, but not much. Consumer demand over the last few years since the War On Waste aired on the ABC, has driven brands to step up their game. Bottles of shampoo can now be replaced with shampoo bars that look like a cake of soap and they perform like salon quality products do.

Hair elastics can now be replaced by hair ties that are made from organic cotton and rubber and will fully biodegrade if they fall out and get lost.
