By now, most of us are familiar with organic Jojoba oil and how beneficial it is for your hair and skin. But just what is Jojoba? What else is it used for?

As far back as the late 80’s and early 90’s jojoba was the new super ingredient in hair care, gradually finding its way into main stream skin care. For me, that is where my understanding stopped.

As we know, the skin produces an oily substance called sebum. Up to 30% of this sebum is made up of wax esters which are responsible for keeping the skin hydrated and firm. Once we hit our 20’s the production of these wax esters decreases allowing moisture to leave our skin cells. In turn we start to age.

The Jojoba plant produces wax esters akin to those found in our skin. When used these wax esters set to work nourishing our skin in the same way as sebum. Our skin is tricked into thinking the jojoba is its own creation allowing it to penetrate and absorb into the deeper dermal layers. The same thing happens when we use jojoba in our hair.

So, what can I use Organic Jojoba Oil for?

A bottle of jojoba oil is a great multi-tasking product that can form a solid foundation in any natural skin care regime, and for those that are travelling, carrying one bottle can replace several that normally sit at home in your beauty cabinet. Cleanse, moisturise, shave, treat your lips, hair & nails all from one bottle.

  1. Organic face serum – using only a small amount daily will visibly slow the effects of ageing, soften and create luminous skin. Because organic jojoba oil is the most like the oils naturally produced by your skin, it is suitable for all skin types.
  2. Organic face cleanser - use a few drops of organic jojoba oil and massage into the face, wiping away with warm water. It's suitable for all skin types and in the regime of double cleansing, this is your oil cleanser and it should be paired with a milk or water based cleanser.
  3. Before waxing treatment– will assist with the hairs bonding to the wax which helps remove the hair, doing this will also lubricate the hair follicle making hair removal easier.
  4. Post waxing/shaving moisturiser – using only a small amount on skin post hair removal can prevent ingrown hairs from appearing. Men can use as an aftershave.
  5. Organic moisturiser for dry and irritable skin – softens, soothes and nourishes, can also help with eczema and psoriasis, relieving dryness.
  6. Organic lip balm - sooth dry and chapped lips naturally. If you're travelling and you only want to take one product away with you, especially if it's a trip to the beach and you're going to be prone to being out in the sun, this is a great option if you don't have any lip balm with you.
  7. Baby Bath Oil - Add a few drops to your bath and even to your babies bath for that soft baby skin
  8. Nail Strengthener – massage into your hands and your cuticles before painting your nails. While you're there, if you add a couple of extra drops, do all your fingers and the backs of your hands for a nourishing hand pampering session.
  9. Organic Hair Treatment – for dry and flaky scalps and for anyone prone to dandruff, while you're shampooing your hair, add a few drops of organic jojoba oil and and massage it into scalp before rinsing.
  10. Personal lubricant - as long as you're not using sex toys or condoms, jojoba oil makes a great oil based lubricant.
