Desert Shadow

Desert Shadow is an Australian certified organic henna hair dye that’s safe to use for people with sensitive skin, allergies and for pregnant mums. It’s vegan, 100% plant based and 100% certified organic ingredients.

This certified organic natural hair colour works by creating a sheer colour over the top of your hair shaft, not by changing the colour underneath. Technically it’s a semi-permanent colour, but after several uses, the henna dye takes a much longer time to fade and you can touch up roots in between full coverage applications.

What shades does Desert Shadow come in?

Desert Shadow natural hair dye is available in 12 different hair colours. From the darkest blue black tone (Indigo Shadow) through to a light blonde (Sun Shadow) you will find strawberry blondes, copper reds, light brown, medium brown and dark brown hair colour. There's something to suit most complexions.

Can you use Desert Shadow to lighten your hair?

Desert Shadow products don't lighten your hair colour. You can bring an existing colour back to life or make your hair darker using this henna hair dye.

Can you use Desert Shadow to cover grey hair?

Yes. We have written a detailed blog on the subject which you can find in the articles on this page. Be prepared to block out a good 3-4 hours to achieve the results you deserve. We recommend you read the full article to learn more. You'll get some good results when you're still around 30% grey. If you're going a dark shade or you're colour resistant, block out some more time to dye your hair one of the copper red shades first and the darker colour will take better over the copper red than your grey.

What is the best way to prepare your hair for a Desert Shadow colour treatment?

With any hair dye, whether it's Desert Shadow or something else, start with a clarifying shampoo. You can use the Pre-Colour Wash Bar or purchase any clarifying shampoo from our range. The day before, read through all the instructions and watch the instruction video to ensure you know what you're doing. This is the safest natural hair dye on the market, but it's not the easiest one to apply.

As well as what's in the box and a clarifying shampoo that you will need to purchase, please also ensure you have some hairdressers gloves, a bowl you don't mind 'donating' to your hair colour stash and a tinting brush to get the colour on your hair evenly. You will also need an activating liquid which you may already have in your kitchen cupboard.
