Buying Guide to BioTuff Compostable Bags

The right BioTuff bag depends on what you need to hold, the size and shape of the container, and how the used bag will be disposed of. Start with the intended use rather than assuming that one compostable bag format will suit every household job.

Choose your garbage bag by bin size

Shop Naturally’s BioTuff bin-liner range includes 8L, 20L, 30L, 36L and 60L capacities. The 8L liners suit smaller bins such as bathroom, office or bench-top bins and are available in different pack-size options. The larger capacities cover common kitchen and household garbage-bin requirements, with the 60L option intended for more substantial bins.

Litre capacity is a useful starting point, but it does not guarantee a precise fit. Two bins described as 30 litres may have very different proportions. One might be tall and narrow, while another is wide or tapered. Measure the height of your bin and the width or circumference of its opening, then compare those measurements with the bag dimensions shown for the product. Allow enough extra length to fold the liner over the rim and tie it after use, without choosing a bag that is unnecessarily oversized.

Dog waste bags

BioTuff dog waste bags are a compostable alternative to conventional plastic dog-waste bags. They are thicker and less transparent than very thin supermarket-style bags, which can make handling and carrying waste during a walk more practical.

The compostability of the bag does not mean dog waste should automatically go into a normal home compost heap, particularly one used for growing food. Pet-waste disposal has separate hygiene and council requirements. Dispose of the filled bag according to the rules that apply in your area.

Freezer bags

BioTuff freezer bags are available in 4L and 6L options. Choose the smaller format for modest portions and the larger format when you need more storage room. These products are intended for freezer and household food-storage use, so they should not be treated as miniature garbage bags.

Capacity alone may not tell you whether a container or food item will fit comfortably. Compare the listed length and width with what you plan to store, leave suitable space for closing the bag, and follow the product’s directions for freezer use.

Resealable storage bags

The large BioTuff resealable storage bags use a zip-style closure that can be opened and closed as needed. This format is useful for organised household storage and for items that benefit from a closable bag rather than an open bin liner or standard freezer bag.

Select these when the resealable closure is important to the job. Although BioTuff storage, freezer, dog-waste and garbage bags use related compostable materials, their formats and intended uses are different. A bag designed to line a bin is not automatically the best option for food storage, and a freezer or resealable bag should not be selected solely because its capacity appears similar to that of a small bin liner.
