- Don't ditch your gym gear, just wash it safely
- Catches the microfibres shed by your clothes
It's estimated that a large city like Berlin releases the equivalent of 500,000 plastic bags worth of microfibre in to water ways every day through washing machines. Worldwide, this is causing devestation to our oceans and these microplastics are entering our food chain through marine life and sea salt.
Using this laundry bag to wash clothes made from artificial fibres, anything stretchy (gym gear, underwear, socks, swimwear etc) or anything that sheds when washed, stops microfibres and small pieces of fabric from ended up in our waterways.
The bag is made from an ultrafine polyamide material that does not shed microfibres. The mesh is so fine, you can't see it. In fact, when we first looked at the fabric, it almost looks waterproof. It's not though, water readily flows through it, but not microfibre plastic.
SIZE - 50 x 75ml (large)
HOW TO USE - half fill the bag (we got 2 pairs of jeans and 2 tshirts in our test bag) and run through the laundry cycle as normal. Remove clothes after washing. Remove the microfibres by hand and dispose of them in the rubbish. Do not rinse or wash the bag inside out as any residual microfibres will end up down the drain.
